Tohatsu, founded in 1922, began manufacturing outboard motors in 1956. Renowned for its reliability and versatility, it entered into an important joint venture with Mercury in 1988, significantly increasing its production capacity and bringing its engines to around 200 countries. An innovator in 4-stroke and TLDI engines, Tohatsu is also a leader in OEM engines for other brands, with over 2.5 million units produced.
